A question I used to laugh at. Do you have medical and dental insurance? Why did I laugh and chuckle? Well, my whole adult life up until recently, I've been freelance, and until 2016, I didn't even know there were health plan options I could afford. But even more so, as a freelance, self-employed person with children to care for, I couldn't afford my family or to get sick, so I  sought prevention through knowledge. I learned from a nutritionist friend that a couple of cloves of garlic were akin to penicillin, that grapefruit seed extract in my boy's OJ would support their immune system, and when all the other kids at school had fevers and runny noses, mine were well and good. I learned about supporting my hormones by reducing the toxic burden on my endocrine system by swapping out everyday household and personal care products for DIY and essential oils, and we've stayed well. This was great for every day, but...

I wanted protection in case of an accident or emergency because those happen, even to the healthiest of us.

Through a friend, I was introduced to a medical share plan, which has been around for quite some time. My whole family had coverage for under $400, and we were responsible for the first $1500 and 10% of any need we submitted. We've only had to use it once, and the payout was quick and on point; they embrace and encourage holistic functional care, but all preventative care was on our dime. Being well and having friends in the functional wellness space has made this option good for us thus far. However, at 47, with changes on the horizon, I've desired to have more regular intentional preventative wellness visits with a functional provider, not for illness but for wellness.

I want to age as gracefully as possible and have few to no surprises that are out of my control. I think many of you may feel the same way.

I often get asked who I see for NMT, Chiropractic, Dental &c. Well, I'm pretty excited because part of my wellness plan has been incorporating Ningxia Red and essential oils like Thieves into my day-to-day and now Young Living, a company whose products I've used for many years and a business I have a brand partnership with has rolled out Health Plans partnering with Clearshare for the person who values both traditional care and holistic prevention that's affordable.

Since we needed to replace our previous medical share provider, we chose the Clearshare & Holistic offer. Take a peek to see what might be a good fit for you.

I recently had all my labs done at no cost. My whole family each receives 24 combined chiropractic and acupuncture visits annually, up to $175 reimbursed per visit, from our chosen providers, the husband-and-wife duo at Totality Holistics, and so much more. Here's a glimpse, but really, you should take a look for yourself, do the math, book a quick consult, and see if it's for you, too.

I am going to document my preventative wellness journey here as I navigate anemia, under-functioning thyroid, prehab, and rehab for a surgery I will have on both feet in this space right here. I always wished I had a big sis to help me navigate certain seasons of life, so I feel compelled to be for someone reading this what I wish I had. Maybe you will pass it on, too!
